Oral Hygiene Items
Keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy, as well as your breath fresh, with those everyday basics every mouth needs. You likely have favorite toothpaste you used at home, so stock up on several to pack before the semester begins so you can make it until winter break without ever having to buy more. Of course, with toothpaste comes a toothbrush, but remember to pack a holder for your brush since you likely carry it back and forth from your room to the dorm bathrooms day in and day out.
Have it secure in its own holder rather than out in the open prevents germs from accumulating in the bristles. Keep some dental floss on hand for after meals and make sure that bottle of mouthwash is always full for those moments where you need a quick breath freshener. Do not be tempted to buy travel size for college, as you are not on vacation, but instead living in the dorms.
Face Wash
While that bed offers temptation at the end of a hard day studying, do not just drop right in at night. Instead, remember to wash all that makeup off if you are female and just keep your skin clean if you are male.
Pack several bottles of your favorite face wash brand to get your through the semester and quickly scrub during that late night trip to the bathroom to brush teeth before turning in for the night. Choose a foaming face wash or a cream face wash and have a clean washcloth on hand to rinse and wipe your face with warm water before returning to your room.
Flip-Flops
While flip-flops do not seem like your typical toiletry item, they come in handy at shower time in the dorms. You likely share your shower with a host of other people and germs accumulate in damp areas.
While shower time acts as get-clean time, your feet often do the opposite and pick up floor germs and bacteria. Wear a pair of waterproof flip-flops during your shower to avoid this problem. Pack 2-3 pairs for the semester and wear them for every trip down the hall and every show you take to keep your feet healthy.
Hair Supplies
Keep your hair looking perfect with everything you used at home. Pack a few bottles of your favorite shampoo and conditioner, as well as your favorite styling products like gel, mousse, and smoothing lotions.
Pack a travel-size hair dryer because the smaller the better in a small dorm room and have a brush and comb handy to get the knots out and find your style after every hair washing. If your hair gets dry and brittle, pack a few deep conditioning treatments, as well.
Fragrances
Smell great for a night out with friends, as well as for date night with that new person you met in class, when you pack your favorite cologne or perfume.
Choose a few travel size bottles as a little goes a long way when it comes to fragrances you do not wear every day. Alternatively, choose one big spray bottle of scents from Giorgio Armani and Calvin Klein and wear it wherever you go. Keep the odor away with a daily dose of deodorant even if you choose not to use perfume or cologne that day.

Make your list of what you need and then start browsing Amazon, eBay, Target, Wallmart, etc. to find it all from the comfort of your couch and with the click of a mouse. Just type what you need into the search bar found on each eBay page and specify brand names to narrow the results and make shopping easier. Look for trusted sellers with high feedback ratings and always contact the seller if you have questions about a listing.
